„Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University of Chisinau welcomes international students, academic and management staff to be part of its academic community!
ICSPU is a public, higher education, research and social development institution subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. ICSPU aims at training future teachers and specialists in the fields of Education Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Exact Sciences as well as developing program-products and educational applications, which represent competitive qualifications on the labour market. ICSPU also provides continuous training programs for teachers and managers and trains researchers at national and international levels. ICSPU brings significant contributions to the teaching staff nationwide and to the development of higher education of Moldova.
With an academic tradition in training and re-training teachers started in 1940, “Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University of Chisinau is the first and only pedagogical university in the Republic of Moldova. With the fusion of the State University of Tiraspol, the Continuing Education Institute and the Institute of Education Sciences, the ICSPU added up three faculties, thus expanding to 8 faculties (Faculty of Philology and History, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Faculty of Psychology and Special Psychopedagogy, Faculty of Education Sciences, Faculty of Geography, Faculty of Biology and Chemistry, Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences) and an improved Centre for Continuing Education and Leadership.
The key achievements of ICSPU encompass a variety of success stories amongst which the implementation of the Future Classroom (https://www.clasaviitorului.md/), which offers a huge array of possibilities for both our teachers, students and the teachers across the country who benefit from continuous professional development sessions.
On May 11, 2023, „Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University of Chisinau became the home of the Orange Digital Centre (https://www.facebook.com/orangedigitalcentermoldova), a programme launched by the Orange Group, which develops this programme in each country it operates. In 2021 and 2022, Orange Digital Centres were launched in European countries as Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, France, as well as in the Middle East and Africa: Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, followed by Romania, Slovakia, Moldova. Orange Digital Centre is a life-long-learning programme where everyone – children, youth, students, women, entrepreneurs or seniors – with the help of the digital, can discover their potential, to improve their professional abilities or to retrain for a job of the future. An Orange Digital Centre encompasses 3 components and offers free:
- Programming school, where the children make their first steps in coding, women acquire digital skills and learn to start small businesses, while the young discover and learn creative IT;
- Fab Lab, a digital fabrication workshop, where the young and the adults learn to create real objects with the help of technologies and digital fabrication and give life to their own ideas;
- Entrepreneurial school, where the young, the students and the adults learn what a start-up is, which its main stages are and how they can launch their own projects at home, in Moldova.
The ICSPU Students and Alumni Association (ASA – Asociația Studenților și Ansolvenților UPS „Ion Creangă”) was created in March 2021 and has been actively involved in various actions and projects (Ion Creanga Mini-Park, EcoCampus Project – the winner of the competition promoted and funded by the ICSPU administration “Opportunities for My University”).
The process of internationalizing our courses by offering new integrated study programs at postgraduate level as well as bilingual courses, including an extended offer of courses taught in a foreign language will most definitely have a significant impact on the quality of the educational offer we provide our beneficiaries.
ICSPU has strengthened and established 196 partnerships with universities worldwide and an impressive number of institutions and organizations at national level. These partnerships allowed ICSPU to develop, implement or participate in academic, research, scientific and cultural actions and events, academic Erasmus+ and non-Erasmus mobilities (study and traineeship mobilities for students, teaching and training mobilities for staff), but also to host international mobilities, seminars, conferences, symposia.
Our students and staff are actively involved in social, volunteering activities aimed at improving life in the local community (Christmas/Easter Charity Caravan, National Dance Day, Earth Day, flash-mobs devoted to the International Education Day, French Teacher’s Day).
„Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University is located in Chisinau, the capital city of the Republic of Moldova. Chisinau is a city in transition, with old and new coexisting together. The city is full of architectural masterpieces from the 19th century, many of them designed by the famous architect Alexandru Bernardazzi when he was chief architect of Chisinau. At the same time, Chisinau has an evident urban structure rooted down in its history.
